Clinical Faculty/Educator Certificate Program
Nursing faculty play a critical role in preparing students for rapid changes in health care. This Program is delivered in an in-person format over three consecutive days with associated home study activities, providing 30 Continuing Education hours.
Preceptor Certificate Program
This Program supports preceptors in developing the practice of teaching and is based on the latest neurosciences of learning. 20 Continuing Education hours are offered in a two-day intensive course with home study activities.
Advanced Clinical Faculty/Educator Program Development
Since 2023, faculty from CA community colleges reported improved teaching confidence (+15%), competence (+9%), and learner engagement (+17%). The Benner Institute is developing 12 advanced professional development topics in partnership with colleges.
Curriculum Development
Transform your nursing program with neuroscience-based curriculum design that bridges the academic-practice gap, enhances student engagement, reduces attrition, and ensures graduates are workforce-ready and safe in clinical practice.
HealthImpact Mentors
HealthImpact Mentors connects nursing students and faculty with experienced mentors via a cloud-based platform. Dyads meet monthly with expert guidance, fostering goal achievement, culturally-congruent support, and strong professional networks.
Foundations of Simulation Education for Faculty
This 3-day, in-person course equips faculty new to simulation with foundational skills in scenario design, debriefing, and technology use. Participants earn 20 CE hours and gain access to WSSA resources and a supportive simulation network.
About HealthImpact
The Benner Institute for Teaching and Learning offers professional development and curriculum programs aimed at transforming nursing education: the Clinical Faculty/Educator Certificate Program, Preceptor Certificate Program, and Curriculum Consulting for Competency-Based Education. Additionally, the HealthImpact Mentors program provides mentorship to support the development and application of competencies learned from these two courses.
The Western States Simulation Alliance provides programs centered around the use of simulation training and program development: the Simulation Intensive Course, Advanced Debriefing and Advanced Debriefing for Implicit Bias, the Scenario Writing Workshop, and the Simulation Operations Specialist Course, Business Planning, and Accreditation Preparation.
