Key System Agreements Secured by CollegeBuys
The end of the fiscal year is consistently characterized by high volumes of activity for the California community colleges’ procurement and contracting departments. This was true for the FoundationCCC’s CollegeBuys team this year, as they worked closely with the Chancellor’s Office Digital Innovation and Infrastructure (DII) Division to finalize two key systemwide agreements. These agreements were with Instructure, the provider of the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) used by all our community colleges, and Clarivate, the provider of the ExLibris Library Services Platform utilized by 110 of our 116 community colleges.
Systemwide Agreement with Instructure
In collaboration with the Chancellor’s Office DII Division, the California Virtual Campus (CVC), and the FoundationCCC’s CollegeBuys program, the systemwide agreement with Instructure was executed on June 16, 2023.
Through this agreement, the Chancellor’s Office will continue to centrally fund Canvas LMS, Canvas Studio, and 24/7 Support, as well as an additional tool to enhance quality online teaching and learning, Impact by Instructure. Central funding for the entire suite of tools has been guaranteed for a minimum of four years (through June 2027). Impact by Instructure helps institutions provide targeted communications to relevant students, enabling improved technology adoption, streamlined dissemination of new policies and procedures, and increased awareness of the resources available to support students’ success. This agreement empowers our institutions to continue delivering quality online education to our students, ensures our students have multi-modal access and choice as to how they receive their education, and eliminates barriers to education access in geographically challenging areas of the state. The FoundationCCC-Instructure agreement also delivers parity with the CSU and UC systems as they pertain to course delivery and the ecosystem of resources (online tutoring, online counseling, telehealth, etc.) made available to our nearly two million students.
Systemwide Agreement with Clarivate
In partnership with the Chancellor’s Office DII Division, the California Community Colleges Council of Chief Librarians (CCL), the Community College League of California (CCLC), and the FoundationCCC’s CollegeBuys program, the systemwide agreement with Clarivate was executed on June 27, 2023.
Through this agreement, the Chancellor’s Office will centrally fund the ExLibris SaaS Alma Library Services Platform and Primo Discovery Services for the California community college libraries at 110 of our institutions. ExLibris cloud-based solutions help institutions improve library impact, research outcomes, and student engagement. This agreement provides continued access to a shared library system which facilitates resource sharing among colleges, libraries, and students while also offering system-wide analytics capabilities.
