Expanding Networks with CollegeBuys Purchasing Contracts

For the past 25 years, the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FoundationCCC) has been a strong supporter of community college procurement through its CollegeBuys program, offering streamlined purchasing through system-wide contracts. While focused on supporting the purchasing needs and bringing awareness of available resources to the California Community Colleges, CollegeBuys has now been utilized by over 400 educational and other public entities nationwide.

To better serve this diverse user base, the CollegeBuys team recently launched two new programs: SchoolBuys and CivicBuys. These programs extend the benefits of CollegeBuys contracts to California’s TK-12 districts and other local government agencies.

SchoolBuys and CivicBuys complement the CollegeBuys program by leveraging existing agreements. With over 150 contracts, nearly half of which are suitable for K-12s, cities, counties, and others, these programs offer efficient procurement processes, access to best-value contracts, and ensure that administrative fees are re-invested in California public education.

To accommodate this expanded network of partners, the department responsible for CollegeBuys has evolved into the Enterprise and Procurement Services department, encompassing CollegeBuys, SchoolBuys, and CivicBuys programs. While our existing CollegeBuys team remains focused on serving the California Community Colleges, additional resources have been allocated to sustainably grow into the additional markets.

These programs will generate additional advantages for all of our stakeholders, as we leverage a greater proportion of California’s public institutions to develop contracts that maximize the value of California’s tax dollars. CollegeBuys has historically partnered with the California State University, the University of California, and the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities on joint bidding and contracting opportunities, and the Enterprise and Procurement Services team looks forward to expanding such partnerships to bring additional savings and efficiencies to all participating agencies.

SchoolBuys, launched first, has been well received by California schools. The SchoolBuys team participated in the annual California Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH) and California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) conferences this spring (the nearest K-12 equivalents of the CCFC and ACBO conferences, respectively). Similar efforts to promote CivicBuys are underway.
