On June 9, 2023, the Federal Trade Commission’s updated Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) Safeguards Rule officially went into effect, making compliance mandatory for all Title IV institutions. Since then, annual audits have included GLBA requirements, and any deficiencies are referred to the Federal Student Aid Technology Directorate and the FTC.
