Innovative Educators Webinar: Trends In Dual Enrollment: Building Pathways To College Success In California
Dual enrollment continues to be one of the most powerful strategies for expanding college access, equity, and student success in California. With recent state policy investments and shifting K12–community college partnerships, education leaders are seeking effective, scalable approaches to grow their programs while ensuring quality and sustainability.
In this one-hour session from Innovative Educators, a panel of California community college leaders will share emerging trends, proven best practices, and innovative models that are transforming how high schools and colleges collaborate. Attendees will gain insights into how to build and scale dual enrollment pathways that improve college-going rates, close equity gaps, and maximize the impact of recent state investments.
Participants will also learn how Innovative Educators’ student success content can support dual enrollment initiatives by equipping students with the time management, study strategies, and digital literacy skills needed to thrive in both high school and college coursework.
This session is designed for higher education and K12 leaders who want to strategically invest in dual enrollment as a lever for student success and institutional growth.

Dr. Lisa Aguilera Lawrenson
Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction at San Joaquin Delta College
Dr. Lisa Aguilera Lawrenson has 31 years of experience as a community college professor, administrator, and social justice educator/trainer in California and Washington. She has expertise in culturally relevant curriculum design, social justice strategic planning, and mentoring. Her dissertation focused on the experiences of Hispanic students in developmental English in community colleges.
In addition to serving as an English/Multicultural Humanities Professor, Dr. Aguilera Lawrenson has served as the Dean of Humanities at American River College (ARC), the Associate Vice President of Instruction at ARC, the Interim Vice President of Instruction at Cosumnes River College, the Interim Vice President of Student Services at ARC, the Vice President of Instruction at ARC, and most recently as the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction at San Joaquin Delta College where she was hired in 2020. In 2022, she became the first Latina superintendent/president in the history of Delta College.
She has led initiatives in basic skills/curriculum, equity, international education, strategic planning, college redesign, and governance.
Meg Foster
Online Learning & Design Specialist and Consultant, Innovative Educators
Ms. Meg Foster is a First Year Experience Instructor at Piedmont Virginia Community College and serves as an Online Learning & Design Specialist and Consultant for Innovative Educators.
An educator dedicated to student access and success, Meg has over sixteen years of online and campus-based FYE teaching experience. While at Reynolds Community College, Meg developed orientation programming for online and on-campus students and supported the Center for Teaching and Learning. Her areas of research include best practices in online learning, college preparation, enrollment and retention. She has presented at numerous national conferences on issues related to college student success.
Meg previously served as an Assistant Dean of Admissions at Salem College and Virginia Wesleyan College. She earned an M.A. in College Student Personnel Administration from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in History from the University of Virginia.
