In April, the Foundation’s CollegeBuys Program successfully conducted its first in-person Purchasing Conference since 2019. Despite the success of the virtual conference in fall of 2020, the entire CollegeBuys team was thrilled to have that in-person energy back. After canceling in-person conference activities in both 2020 and 2021, seeing colleagues face-to-face for in-person networking was an absolute joy! California community colleges purchasing professionals have been meeting annually since 2009 and at the Catamaran Resort in San Diego since 2010 and hope to continue the tradition well into the future.
This year, attendees were able to hear from an eclectic group of speakers such as Rebekah Cearley, Dr. Jose Fierro, Sherman Wong, and Keynote Rodney Taylor. We are grateful for all of our presenters and appreciate their time and effort in creating unique and informative content for our conference. Mina Hernandez and Michael Robins were this year’s Procurement Professional of the Year award recipients. The award highlights exemplary service in the California Community Colleges procurement field. The awards for the Northern and Southern California regions are nominated, selected, and awarded by peers throughout each region and presented at the California Community Colleges Purchasing Conference. Congratulations, Mina and Michael!
